Okay, get this…I was living Groundhog Day, Week, Month, even Year! After talking to some of my clients, I realized I was not the only one! Does any of this sound familiar?
- You take the same vacations every. single. year.
- You try the newest diet or weight loss fad, every. single. year.
- You make New Year’s resolutions, every. single. year.
- You try to get rid of the same habits every. single. year.
- Achieve XYZ so I will finally be happy every. single. year.
If you answered yes to one or more of these points, then you could be suffering from Groundhog-itis. And its probably NOT helping you achieve your goals or happiness (which lets face it, thats really everyones ultimate goal, right?).
So lets take the universal goal of happiness… most of us desire this goal yes? (I see you nodding your head, some I’m going with it). We seem to have fallen into the trap of “I can be happy if ________.” I was in the same trap, even though I was giving great (ehem, if I do say so myself) advice to my clients.
Back in October, I decided to shed the “I’ll be happy if____” and decided to be happy NOW. To see through the lens of love if you will. Literally rose colored glasses. And guess what…that simple shift, shifted everything.
I have been an outwardly positive person for some time, but shifting that to include EVERYTHING in life really made the biggest difference. For example, I lost over 40 pounds since October 31st, 2016. People ask, “what are you doing? Tell me your secret!” and it’s no secret, in its most basic form, I stopped trying to change my body, and started loving it. (See rose colored glasses!)
Would you like to try on rose colored glasses? For 1 week, I challenge you to try on my rose colored glasses in just one area of your life. My advice is to try it with your body, because your physical form will feel most within your control and thus the easiest starting point.
Love Your Body Challenge (tell that Groundhog-itis…bye Felicia)
1- Write down everything you love about your body. Yes you can find something and preferably lots of things. Maybe start with the easy stuff? You love that it takes you places? You love that your feet are pretty? You love your long nails? You have great boobs?
2- Write down 3 times you feel at best in your body and re-create 1 of them this week. When and how do you feel BEST in your body? Is it in Yoga? Is it in your fav leggings? Write down the 3 times you feel best in your body, and re-create at least one of them this week.
3- Stop dieting. Stop the counting, measuring, restricting and all of the restricting that comes with restricting your body and ignoring your internal cues.
This is the beginning of something totally NEW for you! Happy Day!
