Fall's Best Produce
Do you look forward to Fall produce every year? Pumpkins, apples, squashes... there are so many delicious produce options that we wait all year long for that Fall delivers. Although, maybe your in the other camp - where you aren't exactly in love with Fall produce. I am hopefully going to change your mind today!
For some pumpkin season is winding down, but we keep it alive through November in my house. Often that conjures cravings of pumpkin spice lattes - not the best option unless you make them at home, pumpkins themselves are excellent for creating hearty, warming soups in your slow cooker that will boost your health and immune systems. Mother nature does her best to provide us with the right nutrients for the season. You can also make a delicious and healthy snack out of roasting the seeds.
Aside from the great pumpkin, here are some more fall seasonal produce you should snap up from your local farmer's market to put on your table.
Fall Produce
Apples
Like pumpkins, we see a ton of apple-based recipes in fall. But let’s not forget that fall is pumpkin season, but prime apple season too. You can enjoy the fresh-picked taste of this ultimate natural health food right out of your fruit bowl, sliced and topped with natural nut butter, or even added to your salads.
Apples are immune-boosting and dis-ease preventing. They can hydrate you down to the cellular level! They are wonderfully anti-inflammatory and particularly helpful for autoimmune issues. An apple a day right?
Energetically, apples an ancient food, connect us to Source attracting brighter and happier energy. They raise your vibration. Unlike other fruits that get burned by the frost of Fall temperatures, apples continue to grow and ripen despite the negativity around them.
Winter Greens
Why the kale should spring mix get all of the attention? (I had to! LOL) Get an organic batch of winter greens that are either mixed or separate with collard greens, mustard greens, or turnip greens. These yummy winter greens all have plenty of vitamins and minerals plus loads of antioxidants. Make them into salads, sauté them and top them with baked fish, or add them to your soups and stews for more nutrition this fall.
Greens are wonderful for strengthening the roots of your hair, eye and vision problems, and clearing brain fog.
Energetically, these powerful greens raise our vibration to seize the present moment. Helping us to nourish ourselves on every level with the presence to recognize what is in front of us.
Pomegranates
Juicy, bright, and delicious, pomegranates are a superb fall choice. They do take some effort to eat, but the effort is entirely worth it. Use caution, as pomegranate makes a really good fabric dye if you catch my drift. I have a little pomegranate tree I am eager to see if it will bear fruit again next year. You can also garnish your salads with them for a bright pop of color.
Pomegranates are ultra healing for your liver, shoulder issues, calcifications (anywhere in the body), and kidneys. Energetically, they bring balance to the impatient energies that may be creating trouble in your life. Pomegranates teach us to brace for the mess and embrace it to get the most out of what comes our way.
Pears
There are so many types of pears. Bartlett pears are among the most well-known of them, but your farmer's market may have a different, lesser-known variety to try and love. They’re juicy and enjoyable on their own but if you want a dessert that tastes sinful, try poaching your pears for a genuinely classy finish.
Pears are beautiful for stress assistance. They are wonderful for pancreatic support physically and energetically, they are high in electrolytes allowing your body to balance blood sugar. They can be particularly helpful for SIBO too.
The pear has an interesting energy about it, it is not flashy or complicated or hard to find BUT that doesn't reduce its power in any way.
Sweet Potatoes
Fun fact: sweet potatoes are not yams or related to potatoes. I have been serving up sweet potato recipes all month - you can have them savory (I love chipotle flavor) or sweet with a little cinnamon. They are helpful for sleep issues, IBS sufferers, ADHD issues, anxiety, I could go on and on here.
Energetically, sweet potatoes encourage us to analyze where in life we might be piling on the extras - unnecessarily. Where have you been handed a gift and through fear, assumed it was not enough.
Squash
Pumpkin technically falls into the squash category, but the others you shouldn’t miss are acorn, spaghetti, and butternut. For disclosure, I am not a huge squash fan - although I have found some spaghetti squash recipes I really enjoy. Regardless, they are a hearty and healthy part of fall produce!
Squash satisfies cravings, reduces inflammation, and is energetically comforting! And they help to encourage sleep!
Persimmons
They almost look like underripe tomatoes but look closely and you’ll see they’re persimmons. Most supermarkets don’t carry them, even at the height of its season. Look for them at your local farmer's market. They make a great snack and you will reap the benefits of their powerful phytochemicals. Persimmons are powerfully anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and even anti-aging.
Persimmons are powerful sacral chakra balancers.
Beets
While they stain and get a bad rep when processed into sugar - beets cooked or raw are a root veggie that you shouldn’t miss. Unless you are like me and they taste like dirt. LOL! You can buy them pre-made in your produce section to make them even easier to consume. Beets are so very root chakra they will have you grounded instantly.
Make the most of the season’s bounty, and you’ll be making the most of your grocery budget, not to mention, the most of your health too!
If you have questions don't hesitate to reach out and ask. I'm always rooting for you friend!
Love,
